Policies & Procedures

Collection/Late Collection of a Child Policy

All parents are asked to ensure that they collect their child on time as a parent being late can cause distress to a child.
If however you are going to be late you should:
Contact the pre-school as soon as you know.
Where possible arrange for your child to be collected by another responsible adult.
If this person is to be different from the authorised adult known to the pre-school, then verification for this person must be agreed between parent and Pre-school.
No child will be allowed to leave the pre-school with another parent/adult without notification being given either at the beginning of the session or in an emergency by the parent phoning during the session.
If your child is to be collected by another adult you are required to complete the 'Child Collection Book on arrival at pre-school giving the full name, address, telephone no. (home and mobile) and the relationship to child, e.g. grandparent, neighbour etc. Please ensure that you make a member of staff aware of the entry in the book.
If a parent does not turn up at the given time and no notification or other arrangements have been made ('Child Collection Book' will be checked):
Two members of staff will stay with the child.
The contact nos. on file will be called and every effort will be made to ensure that the child is made to feel secure and happy until collected.
Late collection, however short of period of time, is not only inconvenient, but costly to the pre-school. Therefore, a penalty of £5.00 will be charged for every 5 minutes late arrival. A log is retained and should late pick up persist for more than 3 occasions, an invoice for the above will be issued accordingly, unless there is a valid reason and contact is made with the Pre-school.
If however the parents are not reachable and the child is not collected within half an hour of the end of the session, then the supervisor will apply the procedures set out in the Area Child Protection Policy. A copy of which, is available at the pre-school.
